Dr. Naushad N. Merali is the Chairman of the astonishing success that is the Sameer Group. His dedication, vision and unfailingly astute business sense have helped build the largest economic force in Kenya. Mr. Merali’s contributions to the economy and the well-being of its people have earned him a Honorary degree of Business Leadership (Honoris Causa)from Kabarak University and the highly prized National Award of “Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear”.
He is a member of the Kenya Export Promotion Council, the National Investment Council (both major policy making organs of the Kenyan Government), the World Economic Forum, Switzerland, The Conference Board, New York, and the International Who’s Who of Professionals.
He has also been appointed to The National Poverty Eradication Commission, The Kenya Export
Promotion Council, The National Economic Social Council, The Committee to review Terms &
Conditions of Service for Civil Servants and the Presidential Committee on Employment-all of which are presidential appointments.
Sameer Merali is the CEO with a M.Sc. in banking and international finance. He has served as an Executive Director and holds Chairmanship and Directorships positions within the Sameer Group and beyond. Among other things, his responsibilities include overseeing the growth and development of Sameer Investments Portfolio, Oversee activities, and formulate strategy for the group. He is also the principal spokesman for the Company to external parties, investors, media, local communities, government and current and prospective customers. He is specialised in evaluating the day-to- day functions of various companies and implementing projects and products.
Akif Butt is a Director with almost 30 years experience in financial management, corporate planning and strategic management. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
